Returning to Work?

If you’ve taken the decision to return to work after a career break to raise children then chances are you may be feeling a little nervous.

Many of our returning mothers speak of their lack of confidence, of how daunting the workplace seems after a number of years at home.
They not only worry about how work will fit in with childcare, they also worry about how they will fit in at their new workplace.

At Pitman Training in Kingston upon Thames we do everything we can to help mums and dads who want to return to work. We know that one of the quickest ways to boost your confidence and employability is ensure that your skills are up to date.

The computer is an indispensable tool for most jobs these days, so up to date Microsoft Office and keyboarding skills are essential for anyone who wants to work in an office or commercial environment. However we don’t just teach Microsoft Office, our extensive course catalogue includes a range of work related courses- all designed to help your CV stand out from the crowd.
With time a precious commodity we understand that flexibility and support during training are essential. Our unique supported self-paced training delivery method means that you can start your course at any time and plan your study to fit in around your other commitments.
  • You’ll be given a generous length of time to complete your course including a ‘school holiday allowance’ which extends your study period to take account of the times that you cannot attend the centre because of school holidays
  • Guaranteed access to a seat if you pre book a seat during our popular school hours
  • You may rearrange a booked session on the day if an emergency arises without this impacting on your study time allowance

Our long opening hours should also help. We are open seven days a week including two late evenings during the week. There is a qualified tutor on hand to provide help and support at all times.

Skills are important but they aren’t the total picture. The reality is that you’ll also need a great CV that really brings together the skills and experiences you have gained both before and during your career break.
You’ll appreciate some advice on possible interview questions and how to go about your job search so you’ll be glad to know that we offer all our Award and Diploma student a complimentary place on our CV writing and Job Hunting seminars.

Interested? Then why not listen to Kate, a ‘mum returner’ who completed a Legal Secretarial Diploma with us recently?
